45 Lankan Tamil immigrants rescued off Australia

 
 

Feb 6, 2010 8:07 PM · A group of Sri Lankan Tamil illegal immigrants has been rescued from a drifting boat off Christmas Island in Australia.

According to ABC News, the 45 people had sent out distress calls this afternoon (Feb. 06).

Border protection officials have taken him to the detention centre at Christmas Island for processing.

The group had reportedly left Sri Lanka on January 20, and they boat had run out of fuel near the island.
